About the Author
John Ortberg is the senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (MPPC) in the San Francisco Bay Area. His bestselling books include Soul Keeping, Who Is This Man?, and If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get out of the Boat. John teaches around the world at conferences and churches, writes articles for Christianity Today and Leadership Journal, and is on the board of the Dallas Willard Center and Fuller Seminary. He has preached sermons on Abraham Lincoln, The LEGO Movie, and The Gospel According to Les Miserables. John and his wife Nancy enjoy spending time with their three adult children, dog Baxter, and surfing the Pacific. No doubt -- I loved Know Doubt!

This is my third Ortberg book, and based on what I've read so far, I look forward to reading more. Every book of his that I've read is honest, straightforward, and witty -- all without being preachy. Very down to earth. This book was especially wonderful -- mostly because it hit so close to home. I am always struggling with doubt and kicking myself for not having stronger faith. Ortberg explains that we all have doubts -- no one is 100% one way or the other when it comes to faith. Doubt is actually a necessary part of growth... it prompts us to search for truth, and in the long run strengthens our convictions. He also says that the core of faith is trust. Throughout the book, he also references books by other authors, including atheists such as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. Even though the citations are not always pleasant to read, I think it gives the reader a broader view of the topic of faith. I will definitely be re-reading this one.

This book is misleading because it is the paperback version of Faith & Doubt that came out in 2008. Don't waste your money if you already have the hardcover. The book itself is good, but I don't like it when they change the cover and title and confuse people.
