Book comes withOUT the necessary CDs

Find another place to buy this book. It is a workbook, and the way it works is that you listen to short tracks on CD's and use the worksheets in the book to dictate what you hear. As a workbook and a method, it is fantastic. Just don't buy it at Amazon. Why?

This book is supposed to come with 4 (yes, FOUR) audio CDs. If you buy it here, you will get the book, but you will NOT get the CD's.

I ordered mine, paid $13 for express shipping so I could start working on it over the weekend. I am returning my copy to Amazon, and have ordered a copy with the CDs from my school's bookstore. It cost me about $30 more, but the book is useless without the audio.

It's hard to understand the lack of thinking that took place, wherever the decision was made to make this book available without the CDs- or, at least, to make it available without the CD's and NOT CLEARLY COMMUNICATE THAT THEY ARE ESSENTIAL AND NOT INCLUDED. It makes about as much sense as selling someone a car and shipping it to them without tires on the wheels.

This Book is Useless Without the CDs!!!!!

The book did not come with the CD's which are necessary in using the book. When I searched for the book I typed "A New Approach to Ear Training with CD" and this one came up. I didn't imagine that the book would not come with the CDs when whole point of the book is to be used with the CD's. It would be useful if it was at least mentioned that the book does not come with the CD's so that people know what they are buying. I had to use it in school and need it the next day for an assignment. Because it came without the CD's I could not do the assignment and I had to buy it from another site. I hope you're happy Amazon for misleading people and causing them to miss assignments...

Book is not for beginners

I studied this book as part of a harmony class I took at a local community college. It quickly progressed and I was left in the dust. I did well with all the other portions of the class, but not ear training. Most of the kids in the class already had taken music classes at their High Schools and this simply was not as hard for them as it was for me. They said that they had better instructional materials from their high school band teachers. It would take me an hour just to get through one exercise and it was often frustrating. I felt like it didn't establish enough of a foundation for a newbie in this area. I think this book is for people that already have some ear training experience. And of course, you need the CD's. This book is useless without it. You have to listen to the music and then write down on staff paper what you hear.

Louise Simmers received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in education from Kent State University. A few mistakes, but overall good.

Other than the fact that this didn't come in until two weeks after it was supposed to, this is (for the most part) a very good book. It adapts the anime beautifully, covering up through, I believe, halfway through the second episode. Meaning that at that rate, we can expect a sixteen-volume series. However, Ryuko's name is misspelled on the back of the book twice as "Ryuki." Additionally, the translator is rather inconsistent in terms of elongating syllables. The "no" in "Honnouji" is elongated, but the "ryu" in "Ryuko" isn't, and neither is the "so" in "sen-i soshitsu." Furthermore, the term "kamui" is translated as "godrobe" exactly once. Every time it appears after the first time, it's "kamui."

Still, though, this is pretty darn good. The art is good and the battles are exciting and over-the-top, just like the anime. Buy this.

A Great Adaptgation of the Anime

I really enjoyed the anime of Kill la Kill so this manga had quite a bit to live up to. It did not disappoint. This manga really captures the tone and feel of the anime and was really fun to read. The art is great, in my opinion. I can't wait for the next book in line!

Perfect for Fans of the Anime

This manga adaptation of the Trigger anime series of the same name is well worth your time and money if you enjoyed the show. The drawing style is different from the anime, but certainly not bad. The characters (especially protagonist Ryuko) have some really great expressions throughout. A very faithful adaptation, the only possible complaint is that it's too short, but for the price here on Amazon, I'd say it's worth it.

About the Author

Charles Marsh is the Oscar Stauffer Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas. His primary areas of research involve public relations, ethics and classical rhetoric.

David W. Guth is associate professor at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Kansas. His areas of special research interest are crisis communication, political communication and public relations history.

Bonnie Poovey Short, founder and president of Short Solutions, an award-winning editorial and creative services firm that specializes in the health care field, also teaches at the university-level and serves as communications coordinator for a school district.

Love this book!!

I got the Kindle version of this book. The ONLY reason why I would hesitate on giving this 5 stars is, it is difficult to use in the classroom setting because the Kindle version does not include page numbers, however it is not difficult by any means to navigate this book as long as you know the chapter/section you should be studying from.

The book is a very simple structure to read: It gives an overview, the format and examples for every type of media writing included (everything from news releases to pitches to media kits). This book includes several graphics for examples of the different types of writing and formatting of documents and types of media which makes it that much simpler to understand.

I would say, if navigating books on your Kindle is easy for you, buy the Kindle version as it is much cheaper and instant gratification. If you have trouble with eBooks, the print format is set up the exact same way as the Kindle version book, so there is no difference aside from the print version has page numbers and the print version can be more expensive. However, it seems the Kindle version is now the same price as the print version, as I paid $32 for my Kindle version in Jan 2012 for this book, and it is now $82.50 in March 2012.

One side note: The two previous editions of this book are exactly the same as this one aside from one chapter one social media, so if money is an issue, I'd say buy used or an older version.

Go-To Source for Public Relations Writing!

A lot of the books that I have to buy for my classes feel like they say the same basic things. Most of what I feel I've learned in the past has come from lectures, not the books, so I've had no problem trading in the books at the end of the semester.

This book is a God send, though. It is everything that Ad/PR students and professionals need. It talks you through essentially every kind of material you could ever need to write. They provide completed examples as reference and make it actually impossible to mess up by talking you through each step and section.

This book is undoubtedly a fantastic reference that I would recommend to anyone interested in Ad/PR. It is definitely not just a textbook - it's a lifesaver!

Strategic Writing: Multimedia Writing for Advertising, Public Relations and More (3rd Edition)

This is a great book, and I give it two thumbs up that it's available on Kindle. My only complaint to the kindle version is it does not provide the page numbers. I was difficult when the professor and the book itself referenced page numbers, there was no way of knowing where to go. I ended up renting the hard copy because of the page number issue in order to keep up =(. If the e-book/Kindle version contained the page numbers it would be perfect.
