Membrane-Based Desalination: An Integrated Approach (acronym MEDINA) has been a three years project funded by the European Commission within the 6th Framework Program. The project team has developed a work programme aiming to improve the current design and operation practices of membrane systems used for water desalination, trying to solve or, at least, to decrease the critical issues of sea and brackish water desalination systems. In the book, the main results achieved in the nine Work Packages constituting the project will be described, and dismissed by the leaders of the various WPs. The following areas are explored in the book: * the development of advanced analytical methods for feed water characterization, appropriate fouling indicators and prediction tools, procedures and protocols at full-scale desalination facilities; * the identification of optimal seawater pre-treatment strategies by designing advanced hybrid membrane processes (submerged hollow fibre filtration/reaction, adsorption/ion exchange/ozonation) and comparison with conventional methods; * the optimisation of RO membrane module configuration, cleaning strategies, reduction of scaling potential by NF; * the development of strategies aiming to approach the concept of Zero Liquid Discharge (increasing the water recovery factor up to 95% by using Membrane Distillation - MD; bringing concentrates to solids by Membrane Crystallization or Wind Intensified Enhanced Evaporation) and to reduce the brine disposal environmental impact and cost; * increase the sustainability of desalination process by reducing energy consumption(evaluation of MD, demonstration of a new energy recovery device for SWRO installations)and u se of renewable energy (wind and solar).

About the Author
John Mark Comer serves as the lead pastor of Solid Rock Church in Portland, Oregon, a city voted as the most depressed in America by a recent nationwide study. Coffee, food, culture, indie bands, and lots of depressed people. He fits right in.

Prior to planting Solid Rock in 2003, John Mark was the college pastor at a large Calvary Chapel church and played in a band signed to BEC recordings. John Mark is married to Tammy and they have two boys, Jude and Moses. They are in the process of adopting a little girl from Uganda. I am a licensed professional counselor with a PhD in Health Psychology and am excited to recommend this book to my clients. Not only does John Mark provide a strong biblical backdrop to support and validate the reality of anxiety and depression in the life of a Jesus follower, but he brings his own story to the table as well. As a pastors son himself, he dismantles the myth that Christians don't struggle with these issues and provides practical help to walk someone out of these disabling dynamics. This book is refreshing and honest, with down-to-earth suggestions for recovery that range from eating well physically to eating well mentally. I highly endorse this book!

Hands down, this is the go-to book for anyone who deals with anxiety and depression...on any level.

My Name is Hope doesn't seek to serve as the be-all/end-all to an enormous issue. Instead, John Mark Comer writes about his own incredibly difficult journey while using scripture to paint a beautiful picture of hope.

Simply put, this book is required reading if you're breathing. And if you let it, these few pages will change your life and place you smack-dab in the middle of your own journey to healing!

Depression and anxiety are running rampant in our society, and unfortunately do not get dealt with beyond the medical and psychological realms very often. This book offers a deep and honest journey in to this world offering holistic pathways towards healing. The whole person is addressed including the spiritual dimension... Which is just so critical. I am so thankful for this book and the perspective of hope that it offers people going through dark places.

Sexual Truths

This book isn't just written for woman. Men can learn a lot as well. This is as real as relationship topics gets. The message is straight (no chaser). I has an epiphany, or "ah ha" moment while reading about sharing sexual fantasies with your mate. This book dispells the myth about men not wanting to settle down.
